Employee Spotlight April 2012

Leon_mcbride

Leon McBride was hired on December 1, 1995, and has worked for Stinker #32, 13th Street, Boise for most of the last 16 ½ years.  Leon usually works the night shift coming in at 10 p.m. and going home at 6 a.m.  He is like a North End Icon.  Everyone from the night owls to the early morning risers come to the store just to see Leon.  He was once spotlighted in the Boise Weekly for having the best joke of the day.   It was Leon’s loyal customers that noticed something was wrong and called for help when he was having a heart attack several years ago.  In fact, he said his fondest Stinker memory was after his heart attack when he realized how much Stinker cared about him.  Leon said he enjoys his job and the customers are funny!  His advice to new employees is, “Relax, we were all new at this at one time.” So if you are up late go by and say hi to Leon, at night it’s his store.

Leon was born in Bakersfield, CA, grew up in Newark, CA and now lives in Garden City.  He is one of 5 kids with 3 sisters and 1 brother.  He someday hopes to travel to Arizona to see his daughter and brother.  Leon loves riding his Harley, band practice and playing guitar in the band, Second Wind.  He would love to someday record a CD.  He also stated the happiest day of his life was when his kids were born.

She said she has found that being a manager at such a young age she has experienced great things in leading others by setting examples and accomplishments, being respected and leaned on for guidance. She said she also gets to be part of a great company that understands what means the most in life and is understanding when things arrive in the everyday life of a parent. That’s why I love working for Stinker and one day hope to make it to the top of the team and give what I can. She also enjoys the daily interaction with her regular customers. Trista says to be yourself because everyone else is taken and only you can make a difference.
